Tiny Personal Firewall 5.0 combines several layers of endpoint security into one compact product.
These layers are:

Network Protection (stateful packet inspection bi-directional network firewall)

Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention (packets and streams scanning and interception)

Windows Security – the complete set of guards for the control of:

File access

Registry access

Application start and spawning

COM objects (inner program interfaces)

Devices access

Services

VBA macro

This complete set of guards allows for the total protection of personal computer no matter where the computer is and who is logged on. Administrator of the computer may set rules and then leave the computer to users knowing that the security of the data cannot be compromised.

To fully benefit from the advanced features of TPF5 it would be good to understand the basic philosophy:

whenever TPF5 finds about the activity which is matching any rule it inspects whether the application which caused the event exists in the application repository. If the application exists TPF5 processes the rule including asking user if the activity shall be permitted or not. If the application does not exist TPF5 intercepts the application and asks user for the action: to kill the application, to run it once (including install mode) or to enroll it to application repository so that its behavior could be driven by TPF5′s rules.

Tiny Personal Firewall 5.0 fully supports simultaneous multi-user environment such as Windows XP or Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 Servers. Multiple users may be assigned with different rules for the same applications when logged in simultaneously.
