A more low-key marketing campaign preceded NV35, now called the GeForceFX 5900 Ultra. Would it definitively return the 3D crown to nVidia? And what about ATI? Would they counter with a May surprise? As it turns out, they did, announcing a 256MB version of its Radeon 9800 Pro to “coincide with” (read: rain on the parade of) the launch of the GeForceFX 5900 Ultra.
Nvidia will launch its next-generation NV35 graphics chip next week, Nvidia executives confirmed in a earnings conference call on Thursday.
Nvidia reported $405.0 million in revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2004, compared to $582.9 million for same quarter a year ago. Net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2004 was $19.7 million compared to net income of $83.2 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2003.
However, the company expects revenue to rise 12 percent to 18 percent in the second quarter, executives said, prompted by its GeForceFX product line.
