Mandriva 2011 - A new version of the popular Linux-distribution  code-named ?Hydrogen?. It was made most of the planned changes  associated with the user interface and desktop environment a built-in  StackFolders a new program launcher and other features.
The only  desktop by default in the distribution is KDE while support for GNOME  even if it is integrated it is only informally. Mandriva configuration  tools are centralized in the control center KDE with the Mandriva  Linux Control Center from the system disappeared. In Mandriva 2011  included a new package manager that works on a client-server  architecture MPM (Mandriva Package Manager). A simplified installer  will allow you to install the distribution in the background. In terms  of interface a new graphic design theme and ROSA own improvements in  the KDM and the file manager Dolphin.

More than a year  since the release of the last great version was announced release of  Mandriva Linux release 2011.
Mandriva 2011 release was prepared by an  international team of developers consisting of specialists from the  Russian company "ROSA" Brazilian and French Conectiva Mandriva.
Submitted  issue as never before has considerable innovations both at the  organization level user interface and the level of the system  components. For example the transition to the package manager and  system initialization RPM5 Systemd added a new interface to run  programs and redesigned various parts of the desktop environment.  Revised the installation process: instead of selecting the components in  the installer installed by default formed the base of the applications  for which the selected one carefully selected and tested applications  for each task.
Under the new training cycle releases major new  version of Mandriva will be issued once a year. The base period of  support and updates are released will be a half years. Every few years  will form the LTS-release featuring long-time updates are released (3  years). In particular the next LTS-release form will be based on  Mandriva Linux 2011 and released at the end of the year
